A man was fatally wounded this morning while inside his pickup truck in Long Beach, authorities said.
Officers on patrol in the 1600 block of Gaviota Avenue, which is about a block south of Pacific Coast Highway, heard multiple gunshots at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, according to Officer Kimberly Krpan of the Long Beach Police Department.
“They scanned the area and saw a white pick-up truck that had collided with a light pole and an unoccupied parked car,” Krpan said.
The driver had been shot, according to the LBPD.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Krpan said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside the vehicle when he was shot,” she said. “Suspect information and motive remain under investigation.”
Anyone with information regarding the shooting was urged to contact Long Beach police at 562-570-7244. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
