A 21-year-old Long Beach man was charged with multiple robbery counts Monday after detectives discovered evidence at his residence last week they believe was linked to two recent commercial robberies, authorities said.
Randall Nick Young was arrested Thursday, June 25, when Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) detectives served a search warrant at his residence and discovered unspecified evidence believed to be connected with the robberies that were similar in how they were carried out, the LBPD announced in a press release Tuesday.
Young is connected to a June 22 robbery where officials said a male suspect armed with a handgun entered a restaurant in the 4300 block of East Anaheim Street and demanded money from the cashier.
He is also believed to be linked to a robbery on June 24 where a man armed with a handgun entered a restaurant in the 600 block of Redondo Avenue and demanded money from the cashier.
Cash was taken during both incidents without injury, officials said.
Robbery detectives working on the cases were able to serve a search warrant at Young’s home in the 3300 block of Roxanne Avenue when they received an anonymous tip regarding where he lived.
While searching the home, detectives also arrested Young’s father, 48-year-old Martin Young, for weapons and narcotic violations.
More than 50 firearms believed to be linked to Martin were recovered, as well as evidence believed to be connected to the robberies.
Randall pleaded not guilty to four felony counts of robbery in the second degree on Monday, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. A pre-hearing conference is scheduled July 10 at the Long Beach Courthouse.
He is being held at Los Angeles County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Martin posted bail and is expected in court on July 24. The District Attorney’s Office is still reviewing Martin’s case for filing.
