A would-be bank robber who threatened tellers with a bomb was arrested by Long Beach Police Department Tuesday as he exited the bank without any cash.
Police say that 40-year-old Garrick Thomas entered the the Bank of America on West Willow St. at around 12:35PM and provided two notes to tellers that indicated he had a bomb in his possession. Bank employees quickly alerted LBPD and officers set up a perimeter while the suspect was still inside.
As Thomas exited the bank, he was arrested without incident. He was booked for robbery and is being held on $50,000 bail.
“The bank’s premises and the suspect’s belongings were searched; however no explosive devices were found and no money was taken from the bank,” police said in a statement.
