Long Beach police are investigating an assault after a small group of men approached another man and cut him in Downtown on Saturday morning, authorities said.

Officers arrived on at the scene near Pacific Avenue and E. Sixth Street at about 9 a.m., according to police spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria.

“A small group a suspects, believed to be male adults, approached a male adult when a verbal exchange took place and the stabbing occurred,” she said.

The suspects fled the area before officers got there and they do not have a suspect description available. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics for a non-life threatening laceration to his upper body.
