A Long Beach man is in the hospital today after he and his dog were shot during a nighttime walk in Long Beach.
Police said the shooting happened near East 14th Street and Rose Avenue around 11:22 p.m. Wednesday, a few blocks east of MacArthur Park. When officers arrived, they learned the man had been shot by an assailant, who then drove away from the scene, Fox 11 reported.
The victim was taken to a hospital in unknown condition and the dog was taken to a veterinarian for treatment after being shot in the paw.
According to Fox 11, several parked cars were struck by gunfire near the scene.
Witnesses told police the suspect drove away from the scene in a four-door, gray Chevy sedan.
