Long Beach police are investigating a shooting near Chestnut Avenue and Anaheim Street that occurred before 11:40 p.m. on Friday night, LBPD Detective Jennifer Arzola said.

When officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Chestnut Avenue, they found a man who had been shot in the upper torso, police said. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics determined the victim was dead at the scene.

Police have not released any suspect information yet. The incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related, but police have not yet determined a motive, Arzola said.
