A man was hospitalized early Friday morning after being shot in North Long Beach, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched around 6:10 a.m. to the hospital shortly after a man arrived suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

At the hospital, the man told police that he was standing near the intersection of Market Street and Locust Avenue when he heard what sounded like gunfire. The man then realized a bullet had struck him, so he headed to the hospital, according to the LBPD.

Police say the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigators have not yet identified the suspect or a motive, and the investigation is ongoing. No further details were available.
