A man was shot to death Tuesday night in the area of the Los Angeles River and Pacific Coast Highway, police said,

Police say the shooting happened sometime around 8:26 p.m. When officers arrived, they located the man suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body, the LBPD said Wednesday morning.

Officers aided the man until Long Beach fire personnel responded to the scene to transport him to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

Police have not yet identified the suspect or a motive, and the investigation is ongoing. No further details were available.

The LBPD has publicly reported 24 homicides this year. Of the 24 homicides reported this year, 18 have been the result of gun violence.
