Man heads to hospital after being shot near PCH and Pine, police say
Police are investigating after a man was wounded in a shooting Wednesday evening in Long Beach’s Washington neighborhood.
Officers were called to the 1800 block of Locust Avenue around 6:22 p.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department, but investigators later determined the shooting occurred closer to the 100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. Investigators appeared to be focused on the parking lot of Mike’s Liquor at Pine Avenue and PCH.
By the time officers arrived at the scene, the man had already headed to the hospital himself for treatment, LBPD Lt. Marcus Hodge said.
At the hospital, the man, who is in stable condition, told officers that he was walking near the area when an unknown male that was nearby shot him in the upper body, according to the LBPD.
It’s unclear at this time what sparked the shooting.
No suspect information is available as he fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
