Long Beach police were investigating but had few details after a man was wounded by gunfire early Tuesday morning in Central Long Beach.

Police said they were alerted to the shooting around 12:50 a.m. and found the wounded man near E. 10th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Medics took him to the hospital where he was treated for wounds that weren’t life-threatening, but he refused to cooperate with officers and detectives, LBPD spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

Because of that, police aren’t sure exactly where the shooting happened, according to Dandoy. She said, however, that officers did find evidence of a shooting in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

No information on a suspect was immediately available.
