Man hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in Willmore neighborhood

A man was hospitalized Friday night after being shot in the Willmore neighborhood of Long Beach, police said.

Police responded around 8:02 p.m. to the 500 block of Daisy Avenue where they found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The Long Beach Fire Department transported the man to a local hospital where he is now in critical condition, police said. Due to his condition, the man was unable to tell police any details about the shooting, but investigators believe an unknown suspect shot the victim and fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.

At the scene, officers found evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
