Detectives are investigating a shooting in Central Long Beach that left a man dead Wednesday night, according to authorities.

Police say 36-year-old Korey Brown was in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue sometime around 8 p.m. when an unknown suspect or suspects shot him multiple times in the upper body and ran away.

Officers rushed to the scene of the shooting and rendered aid to Brown until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported him to a local hospital, police said. He later died from his injuries, they added.

A description of the suspects and a motive for the shooting were not immediately clear.
