Police say a pedestrian was killed last night in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway, a few blocks east of the Los Angeles River.
The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday near Maine Avenue, according to Long Beach police.
Authorities said a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV was traveling eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway when it collided with a 39-year-old man who was crossing the street outside a crosswalk.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Speed, distracted driving and impaired driving were not believed to be factors in the crash, police said.
