Police say a pedestrian was killed last night by a pickup truck speeding near the Rose Park neighborhood.
The crash happened shortly before 10:50 p.m. Wednesday on Seventh Street just east of Cherry Avenue, according to Long Beach police.
Police said a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup was heading eastbound in the right lane when it struck a man who had “walked in between two parked cars and into the roadway,” police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said. The man’s name was withheld pending family notification. His age was not immediately available.
The pickup driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
It was the second deadly crash in Long Beach within the span of a few hours. Fatal wrecks in the city have increased recently, with speed being a factor in many of them.
