Man Killed in Long Beach Drive-by Shooting • Long Beach Post

Police today identified a 22-year-old man who was killed in a gang-related shooting in Long Beach.

Richard Van of Long Beach was shot about 4:30 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Wesley Drive, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers who responded to the shooting call found Van with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He died at a hospital.

“Further investigation found that there was a physical confrontation between multiple subjects prior to the shooting,” according to a police statement. “The incident is being investigated as gang-related.”

Anyone with information about the killing was urged to call (562) 570-7244 to speak with Detectives Sean Irving and Ben Vargas. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
