Rain will make a comeback in the Southland this week, with two storm systems out of the Pacific Northwest headed for the region, the National Weather Service said today.

A rain advisory for Long Beach was issued today by Health Officer Dr. Anissa Davis for recreational beaches and bays due to the rain experienced over the weekend. They are to be avoided for three days following the end of the rainstorm.

Due to the storm, unhealthy conditions are expected and may result from increased runoff from storm drain outlets and rivers which eventually will reach the city’s beaches, officials stated.

This advisory is in effect through Wednesday, and may be extended if additional rain occurs prior to that date. According to the National Weather Service, the rainstorm will begin in the region tonight and end with light showers on Wednesday morning. Followed by the second storm beginning Wednesday night until Saturday morning.
