The man told officers that about an hour and a half earlier he was inside his home near the 100 block of West 49th Street when he heard gunshots coming from outside, the LBPD said.
When he retrieved his rifle, the weapon discharged and struck him in the lower body, according to the LBPD. The man transported himself to the hospital where he was treated for injuries that weren’t life-threatening, authorities said,
Back at his home, police found evidence—including casings—that indicated a shooting had happened outside, as the man suspected, police said. No other injuries were reported.
