A woman shot a man during an argument in Belmont Shore late Friday night, according to Long Beach police.
Police said the man was wounded in the upper body but was able to take himself to the hospital.
The altercation happened at about 10:45 p.m. Friday in the 5000 block East Ocean Boulevard, which is near Rosie’s Dog Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The victim and the suspect fled the location prior to police arriving, but officers were notified that the shooting victim had self-transported to a hospital, police said.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was in a verbal dispute with a female suspect, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim,” according to a police statement. “The investigation is ongoing.”
No suspect description was available.
