Long Beach police are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach after a man told them he was sitting in his car when he was wounded Tuesday night.

Officers found out about the shooting around 11:10 p.m. when they were called to a local hospital about a man who had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body, police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

“Preliminary information revealed the victim was sitting in his parked vehicle near the area of 56th Street and Linden Avenue when an unknown suspect(s) fired at him striking both him and his vehicle,” Dandoy said.

Police officers found casings in the area and detectives are investigating the incident. Police do not have a suspect description or known motive at this point, Dandoy said.
