A man who was shot overnight in Long Beach took himself to the hospital but wouldn’t tell police much about what happened, authorities said.

The wounded man showed up at a Long Beach hospital around 1 a.m. Monday, and police arrived soon after to interview him, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

The man told officers he was shot near the 91 Freeway, “but would not provide any additional details,” Pratt said. Police said the man’s wounds weren’t life-threatening.

Investigators think the shooting may be gang-related, Pratt said. They asked anyone with information to contact detectives at 562-570-7370.
