Long Beach police responded to three reports of gunfire overnight, including one where a man was shot while walking in the area of 11th Street and Obispo Avenue, officials said.

Officers responded to the area at about 2:10 a.m. Wednesday when they found a man with gunshot wounds to his lower body, Long Beach police spokesman Brandon Fahey said.

“The victim stated he was walking in the area when he fell over in pain and realized he had been shot,” Fahey said.

He did not provide any information regarding the suspect or circumstances of the shooting, but police found bullet casings in the area, Fahey said. Paramedics took him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police do not know the motive for the shooting.

Earlier that night, police responded to two shootings that didn’t hit anyone.

In the first at about 6 p.m. Tuesday night, a shooter fired at a home on 12th Street and Cedar Avenue.

Later, at about 7:50 p.m., officers were called to the 100 block of East 69th Way where a woman told them she was outside near her home when she got involved in an argument with a man she knew that escalated into a shooting.

The suspect fled the scene before officers got there, but they found bullet casings in the area indicating a shooting happened.
