A man was walking in North Long Beach Thursday when he heard gunfire and then realized he’d been struck by a bullet, police said.
The victim told police he was walking near Myrtle Avenue and South Street when he was wounded in the lower body. The injury wasn’t life-threatening, police said.
Police said they learned about the shooting after officers were sent to a local hospital at about 11 p.m. regarding a shooting victim who was being cared for there.
It’s unclear what time exactly the shooting happened, and officers later went to the area but were unable to locate a crime scene, LBPD spokesperson Allison Gallagher said.
Police said they do not have any suspect information and have not identified a motive, but said the investigation is ongoing.
