Heavy fog disturbing visibility in and around Long Beach Airport is affecting operations and delaying flights at the airport.
About 10 flights have been delayed due to the dense fog, LGB spokeswoman Kate Kuykendall said. The fog rolled into Long Beach at about 6 p.m. Thursday evening and affected flights coming in and out of the airport.
“We did have several diversions last night as well as some cancellations,” Kuykendall said. “Some flights were diverted to Ontario, (and) flights were diverted to John Wayne Airport. And some flights had to turn around go back to their origin.”
The National Weather Service predicts the fog should burn off sometime after 11 a.m., but patchy fog is forecasted to return after 11 p.m. tonight.
