Police arrested a 24-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed another man shortly before 8:50 p.m. on Friday in the Willmore neighborhood near Downtown, authorities said.

The two men knew each other, according to Officer Alvino Herrera, but police did not explain how.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that while the victim and suspect were socializing with other subjects, the victim and suspect began arguing and the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife,” Herrera said.

The two were near Melrose Way and Chestnut Avenue.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital with a stab wound to his upper torso, police said. He’s expected to recover.

Police arrested Robert Love, a Long Beach man, and booked him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
