A man was stabbed during an argument about littering in Long Beach’s Zaferia neighborhood Friday night, police said.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the dispute started shortly before 11:52 p.m. on Stanley Avenue just north of 11th Street.

The victim and another man “were in a dispute over littering outside in a common area,” police said in a statement. “The dispute escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife.”

The victim was left with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body, police said, but he declined medical treatment.

Police said they’re still gathering information on the suspect, who fled before officers arrived.
