A man was stabbed early Friday morning during a fight that was provoked when another man shot a BB gun in his direction, authorities said.
The stabbing happened just before 6 a.m. in the area of 14th Street and Gaviota Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The victim was in the area with his friends when an unknown man shot in his direction using a BB gun, the LBPD said.
Following a brief argument, a fight broke out between the victim and the suspect, police said. During the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim in the upper and lower body, police said.
Officers responded shortly after and located the victim, police said. It’s not clear if he was hospitalized or treated at the scene, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
The suspect, meanwhile, fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction before the officers arrived, police said. No further suspect information was available, and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
