A man was hospitalized Friday morning after police say he was attacked and stabbed by multiple suspects in Long Beach’s Hellman neighborhood.
Officers responded at 1:29 a.m. to the 700 block of Gardenia Avenue following reports of a person screaming, according to the Long Beach Police Department. At the scene, officers located the man, who was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel also arrived at the scene and transported the man to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Police later discovered the man was approached by an unknown number of male suspects in the area who battered and stabbed him following a brief verbal altercation. It’s not clear if the assailants and the man knew each other.
No arrests were made as the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction before officers arrived.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
