Long Beach police are investigating a shooting that left a man wounded on the westside this morning, officials said.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of West Spring Street, near Santa Fe Avenue, at about 8:40 a.m. about a shooting police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.

There they talked to a man who had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper body. Paramedics took him to a local hospital in stable condition, according to Gallagher.

Police believe the man was actually shot on the 2900 block of Seabright Avenue, about two blocks away from where they were called to. They found bullet casings and other evidence of a shooting, Gallagher said.

Police do not yet know the motive for the shooting or have suspect information.
