Police say they’re investigating a shooting in Long Beach’s Washington neighborhood that left a man wounded Monday morning.

Officers were notified of the shooting around 3:44 a.m. and responded to the area of Pine Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The man, according to police, was sitting in the area when he was struck by gunfire in the lower body.

He was then transported by a bystander to a local hospital, according to the LBPD.

Authorities at the scene located evidence of a crime scene, including bullet casings and strike marks, police said.

At this time, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown, according to police.
