A five-vehicle crash involving an overturned box truck briefly shut down two lanes of the westbound 91 Freeway near Cherry Avenue early Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened in the carpool lane shortly before noon, Capt. Matt Dobberpuhl from the Long Beach Fire Department said. Paramedics evaluated three people and took two of them to nearby hospitals.
“We have one engine company still out there, but it’s wrapping up,” Dobberpuhl said around 1 p.m.
Authorities couldn’t immediately provide details on what caused the crash.
