Pair with gun try to rob Downtown sandwich shop, get away with only a cup

A man and a woman armed with a gun robbed a Subway restaurant in Downtown Long Beach Friday morning but got away with only a beverage cup, police said.

Just before 10:30 a.m., the two suspects went into the business at Fifth Street and Long Beach Boulevard and demanded cash from the register, police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

They ended up stealing a beverage cup and fleeing in a black sedan, she said.

The suspects did not take any cash and no injuries were reported, Dandoy said. Officers are still looking for them.
