A man and woman were charged Thursday with killing a Long Beach woman in Fountain Valley last month.

Mary Diedra Chavez, 25, and Oliver Reynaldo Leon, 27, were both charged with murder and conspiracy to commit a crime. They are accused of killing 26-year-old Phia Marie Albanese on July 19.

Fountain Valley police discovered the slaying when they were called at 6:11 p.m. July 19 to Tradewinds Street and Slater Avenue regarding a traffic crash and found Albanese behind the wheel of a car. She’d been fatally shot and was unresponsive, police said.

According to the criminal complaint, Chavez and Leon went from Los Angeles County to Tustin with two unidentified co-conspirators.

They called Albanese “to lure her out of a hotel room,” prosecutors alleged in the complaint.

They all got into the victim’s car and left the hotel with her with the two unidentified co-conspirators following in a black Mercedes-Benz, prosecutors alleged.

The complaint alleges the defendants had her pull onto Tradewinds Street, where they took Albanese’s phone and Leon shot her three times in the head.
