Two men suspected of fatally shooting a 33-year-old man in Long Beach have been arrested, police said Thursday.
Homicide detectives identified Maliek Dontell James-Morrow, 29, and Buon Henry Um, 29, both Long Beach residents, as suspects in the killing of David Alfaro, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers found Alfaro wounded inside a crashed pickup truck at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, after they heard gunshots in the 1600 block of Pacific Coast Highway. He died at the hospital, and police began looking for suspects.
James-Morrow was arrested on Tuesday after Special Investigations Division detectives located him in the 1600 block of East Anaheim Street, about a quarter-mile west of Cherry Avenue, in Long Beach. Um was taken into custody the following day after being found in the 2000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, near Cherry Avenue, police said.
Both men were booked on suspicion of murder, with bail set at $2 million each.
Police said investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a dispute but did not say what kind of dispute.
The case has been presented to prosecutors at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, who will decide what charges to file.
