The Long Beach Police Department announced the results of a summertime safety operation in Belmont Shore, which focused on public education and the enforcement of bicycle, skateboard & pedestrian regulations.
The operation lasted from August 2 to August 28 and had on-duty and overtime officers, along with volunteer reserve officers, target the Second Street business district. During the operation, one person was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, police said.
Police also issued one citation for urinating in public, eight citations for skateboarding to juveniles, 11 citations for bicycling on the sidewalk, 19 citations to pedestrians for crossing on a red light or red hand violation, and warnings to 12 people regarding riding a skateboard or bicycle on the sidewalk.
Additionally, police issued 5 vehicle citations, and completed 6 field interview cards.
