Long Beach police are investigating two stabbing incidents from early Saturday morning that left two men wounded. The stabbings don’t appear to be related, Officer Alvino Herrera said.

In the first incident, police were dispatched to Belmont Shore in the 5300 block of Second Street at 2:30 a.m. and found a man with a non-life threatening stab wound to the lower half of his body, Herrera said.

Investigators believe the attacker and the victim, who did not know each other, were fighting when the victim was stabbed, he said. Paramedics took the victim to the hospital.

At 6 a.m. at the Promenade and Third Street in Downtown, officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon. They found a man with non-life threatening injuries to the lower half of his body, according to Herrera.

“The preliminary investigation revealed two suspects assaulted the victim and took his belongings,” Herrera said. The victim did not know the suspects.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, but he did not want to be transported to a hospital, he said.

All three attackers are still at large and police are still investigating, he said.
