UPDATE | The fatal stabbing of a Long Beach man near Drake Park on Sunday night does not appear to be gang-related, according to officials with the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers responding to the 1000 block of Maine Avenue on Sunday, October 25 at about 7:45PM found the victim, who was stabbed in the torso, lying on the sidewalk, authorities said.
Paramedics then transported Long Beach resident James Pimentel, 22, to a local hospital where he died shortly thereafter, LBPD officials said.
According to officials, the motive for the incident does not appear to be gang-related and no suspect information is available at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.

10/26/15 at 11:16AM | A Long Beach man was fatally stabbed in the city’s Willmore neighborhood on Sunday night, authorities said.
James Pimentel, 22, died at a local hospital, the Los Angeles County coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.
Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Maine Avenue on Sunday, October 25 at about 7:45PM. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
No suspect information is available at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
Six security cameras were installed in Drake Park in 2013, amid concerns regarding an increase in tagging and property crime, and a string of shootings which left one dead and others injured.
Earlier this month, police arrested a woman suspected of robbing a person at Drake Park, after witnesses who called the police reported seeing a person with a gun.
