UPDATE | Authorities have identified the victim killed in last week’s shooting in Long Beach as a 19-year-old Long Beach man.

Tyrone Douglas died at a hospital, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter, after he and an 18-year-old Long Beach resident were shot at by an unknown assailant Thursday afternoon.

The 18-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

PREVIOUSLY: UPDATE: One Dead, One Injured in North Long Beach Shooting

3/4/16 at 11:20AM | A possibly gang-related shooting in North Long Beach Thursday afternoon left one man dead and another with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Officers responded to Artesia Boulevard and Butler Avenue just after 3:00PM regarding a call of an assault with a deadly weapon, LBPD spokesman Brad Johnson said.

“The victims were standing on the street near Butler Avenue and Artesia Boulevard with a group of male subjects, when an unknown male subject walked up to the group and opened fire, striking the two victims,” according to LBPD officials.

Police found the victims suffering from gunshot wounds, with one victim struck in the upper body and the other in the lower body, he said.

Both men were transported to the Long Beach Memorial medical center where one was pronounced dead and the other was being treated for what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury, according to Johnson.

The Westbound lanes of Artesia Boulevard were closed between Long Beach Boulevard and the Long Beach (710) Freeway as police investigated the shooting.

The injured victim was identified as an 18-year-old Long Beach resident. The dead victim has not yet been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

PREVIOUSLY: Police Investigating Injury Shooting in North Long Beach

3/3/16 at 3:38PM | Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in North Long Beach Thursday afternoon, which sent two people to the hospital.

The shooting happened near Artesia Boulevard and Butler Avenue, according to a Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) police scanner.

Two victims were transported to Long Beach Memorial hospital, authorities said over the scanner. 

Westbound Artesia Boulevard is closed between Long Beach Boulevard and the Long Beach (710) Freeway while police investigate.
