Police are investigating two non-injury shootings that took place in North Long Beach recently, including one that happened just a few hours before officers fatally shot an armed man, authorities said.
First Shooting
Police were dispatched to a call of a possible shooting on the 1700 block of East Hungerford Street at 9:18PM on Friday, September 2, according to Sgt. James Richardson of the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
Arriving officers spoke to a man who said he was walking in the area when someone exited a dark colored vehicle and shot at him twice, Richardson said. The suspect was described as an adult male.
The victim was not struck but a vehicle sustained damage by the gunfire.
Officers searched the area for the suspect but did not find him. Authorities are investigating the shooting as possibly gang-related.
Second Shooting
On Sunday, September 4 at 5:43PM, Long Beach officers were flagged down regarding a possible shooting on the 6700 block of Paramount Boulevard, according to Richardson.
“The female adult victim told officers she had been in an argument with a female adult suspect who retrieved a handgun and shot at the victim,” Richardson said.
The victim was not hit. Officers were able to find a crime scene at the reported location of the incident, according to Richardson.
No one was arrested. The investigation remains ongoing.
