Long Beach police responded to two reports of gunfire early Monday morning, but nobody was wounded in either shooting, they said.

At about 12:20 a.m., police were called to the 1200 block of Taper Street, which is in the upper Westside of Long Beach, regarding shots fired. They found evidence that a shooting occurred, but found no one injured, police spokesman Brandon Fahey said.

Investigators believe a suspect or suspects fired a gun from a vehicle and fled the scene before police got there, Fahey said.

Two hours later at 2:20 a.m., officers were called to another shooting, this time on the 4200 block of Outer Traffic Circle. No one was hit, but officers found evidence, including bullet casings, indicating that a shooting had happened, according to Fahey.

Police do not know the motive for either shooting and are still investigating, he said. They asked that anyone with information call detectives at 562-570-7370. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org
