Police Thursday evening arrested a Long Beach man after a pursuit through the Traffic Circle, Zaferia and Rose Park neighborhoods.

Police said they first observed the driver speeding and steering erratically on westbound Pacific Coast Highway near Redondo Avenue at 5:05 p.m. Officers took up pursuit after the driver didn’t yield to a traffic stop.

Soon after, the driver abandoned the car in the area of Fifth Street and Junipero Avenue, fled on foot, and was ultimately arrested at 2300 block of E. Fifth Street, police said.

Police identified the driver as 24-year-old Kevin Adrian Hernandez-Rivera. The LBPD said he was booked into jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, resisting arrest and evading police. His bail has been set at $75,000.
