JANUARY 20 2:37PM | A man suspected of burglarizing multiple laundry facilities in Long Beach turned himself in to the police Tuesday morning after seeing himself in the news.
Felipe Felix, 35, of Long Beach, walked into the lobby of Long Beach Police Headquarters and surrendered, police said.
According to a statement from the LBPD, Felix removed coins from laundry machine coin boxes, and detectives believe he has done this multiple times between November 2013 and January 2015.
In total, Felix stole about $200 and caused about $2,500 in damages to the machines, LBPD spokeswoman Megan Zabel told the Long Beach Post.
He was booked for burglary and is being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $50,000 bail.
His case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office this week.

The most recent incident occurred on January 3 around 9:00AM on the 300 block of Gladys Avenue, when the male suspect entered a multi-family residential laundry room. He then forced entry into a coin box in an attempt to remove the case. In this instance, however, the box was empty, so the suspect left empty handed, police said.
