Some freeway closures have been rescheduled to this weekend because of rain last weekend, announced the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project in a statement Friday.
These closures include lane reductions for eastbound and westbound Ocean Boulevard on the Gerald Desmond Bridge, and the eastbound Ocean Boulevard on-ramp from Pier T Avenue.
The following closures have also been announced:
Eastbound Ocean Blvd. to Northbound I-710 Connector Lane Closure
Type of Work: Lane closure
Area of Work: The inside lane of the eastbound Ocean Boulevard connector to the northbound I-710 Freeway is closed. One lane will remain open at all times.
When: Daily from 6:00AM to 6:00PM through Wednesday, January 21
Southbound Harbor Scenic Drive Traffic Breaks
Type of Work: Traffic break
Area of Work: There will be short-term, rolling traffic breaks on southbound Harbor Scenic Drive from the southbound I-710 Freeway. Motorists may avoid the area by exiting Pico Ave. (Piers B, C, D, E) and take southbound Pico Avenue to reach Piers F through J.
When: 7:00AM to 7:00PM Friday, January 16
Southbound Harbor Scenic Drive Lane Closure
Type of Work: Lane closure
Area of Work: The inside lane of southbound Harbor Scenic Drive is closed from the southbound I-710 Freeway to Ocean Boulevard. One lane will remain open at all times.
When: Ongoing through approximately early-March
Northbound Pico Avenue Lane Closure
Type of Work: Lane closure
Area of Work: A short stretch of northbound Pico Avenue is reduced to one lane between the westbound Ocean Boulevard off-ramp and Pier D Street.

Pier T Avenue Ramp Closure
Type of Work: Ramp closure
Area of Work: The Pier T Avenue on-ramp for westbound Ocean Boulevard is closed. The entrance to the detour route along Pier S Lane is approximately 300 feet from the former westbound on-ramp at the Pier T Avenue/Pier T Lane intersection.

SB I-710 Freeway to WB Ocean Blvd. Connector Closure
Type of Work: Freeway connector closure
Area of Work: The southbound I-710 Freeway to westbound Ocean Boulevard connector is closed through 2016. The detour for traffic headed to Terminal Island and San Pedro is southbound Pico Avenue to westbound Ocean Boulevard. Follow detour signs for “Terminal Island.” Detour map available here.

Westbound Ocean Blvd. Lane Reduction

Area of Work: Westbound Ocean Boulevard from downtown Long Beach is reduced to one lane approaching the Gerald Desmond Bridge.

Pier T Avenue to Eastbound Ocean Blvd. Ramp Closure (SCE)
Type of Work: Ramp closure
Area of Work: The on-ramp from Pier T Avenue to eastbound Ocean Boulevard will be closed for electrical work. Access to Pier T Avenue from westbound Ocean Boulevard will remain open. The detour route is Pier S Lane towards westbound Ocean Boulevard and Terminal Island Freeway (State Route 47), turn left at the intersection to cross under Ocean Boulevard and stay to the left for the on-ramp to eastbound Ocean Boulevard.

Area of Work: Westbound Ocean Boulevard will be reduced to one over the Gerald Desmond Bridge.

Area of Work: The dedicated right turn lane for northbound Terminal Island Freeway from westbound Ocean Boulevard is closed. Access through the intersection and northbound Terminal Island Freeway is maintained.
