Long Beach police arrested two suspects who had fled on foot after officers responded to a call about a stolen black sedan near Poly High School on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

At around 3 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and New York Street and found two suspects, a man and woman, which resulted in both suspects fleeing on foot, police said.

The woman was quickly located and detained, but officers had to search for the man, police said. They set up a perimeter near New York Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, where a helicopter circled overhead.

A K9 unit was on scene to locate the man, who was soon arrested, police said. He will be transported to Long Beach Jail for booking, according to the LBPD.

Where the vehicle was stolen from is currently under investigation, police said.
