Authorities this morning chased a motorist in a reported stolen car from Long Beach to San Pedro where the driver got out of the car and went into a house before being arrested.

The chase, began about 5:50 a.m. when officers tried to pull over the car near Long Beach Boulevard and the 405 Freeway, LBPD spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Officers chased the car onto the 91 Freeway to the southbound 710 Freeway, onto westbound Ocean Boulevard and over the Vincent Thomas Bridge into San Pedro.

Along the way, police tried to spin out the car on a surface street, but it kept going, eventually circling around in a neighborhood near First Street and Cabrillo Avenue, where it stopped about 6:40 a.m. and the driver got out and ran into a residence.

Officers with the help of police dogs searched the house and took the driver into custody after a few hours, according to De Prez.

“Officers believe the residence is known to the suspect, however the exact nature is currently unknown,” she said.

Police also took a woman at the home into custody on suspicion of aiding and abetting the suspect, according to police.
