A man was wounded in a possibly gang-related shooting in a parking lot near the Aquarium of the Pacific late Tuesday, police said.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 9:15 p.m. in a parking lot at 100 Aquarium Way, where they found bullet casings and other evidence, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.
Police learned that a man had been shot in the upper body and was rushed by friends to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
Police said a preliminary investigation showed that two victims were in a car in the parking lot when a man shot at the car, striking the passenger. The incident is being investigated as possibly gang related, police said. No suspect information was available.
Long Beach police define gang related as any crime committed “for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with any criminal street gang.”
