A man told police he escaped unhurt when someone got out of a car and shot at him near Downtown Long Beach Sunday night.

The man flagged down an officer at Fourth Street and Daisy Avenue around 8 p.m. and said he was in a nearby alley when a man got out of a car and fired before fleeing, according to authorities.

Officers canvassed the area, which is about two blocks north of the Downtown courthouse but they couldn’t find the gunman or any other evidence of a shooting, LBPD spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Police said they don’t know of any motive for the shooting and haven’t identified any suspects.
