A teenager was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night in Long Beach’s Willmore neighborhood, and police are still searching for any suspects, according to authorities.

Police said they responded to a call about someone hearing gunshots around 7 p.m. in the 900 block of Maine Avenue, which is in the area of Drake Park.

At the scene, officers found bullet casings in the street and a 16-year-old who’d been shot in the upper body, LBPD spokeswoman Emily Garcia said. Medics took him to the hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Whoever pulled the trigger fled before officers arrived, according to Garcia. Police did not have a suspect description or any known motive at this point, she said.

Tuesday’s shooting was the second at or near Drake Park this week.

Around 1 a.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man and 16-year-old girl were shot and wounded during an attempted robbery, authorities said.

Police urged anyone with details about the crime to call gang detectives at 562-570-7370.
