Two men were killed and two others were wounded after a shooting in front of a Cambodia Town liquor store Tuesday night.

Officials said Wednesday that police responded to a “shots fired” call possibly coming from a nearby liquor store at 9:25PM on Tuesday. When they arrived, officers found four men inside the store who were all struck by gunfire.

One of the men was determined to be dead at the scene while a second victim was pronounced dead after arriving at a local hospital, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

The third victim was also hospitalized and has since been released. The fourth victim sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

The man found dead at the scene was 21-year-old Long Beach resident Danny Bunthung while the victim pronounced dead at the hospital was identified as 22-year-old Dallas Som, also of Long Beach, according to coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

A preliminary investigation found that the two fatally wounded men were involved in a physical altercation inside the store with an unknown subject, or subjects, which escalated to the shooting, officials stated. The suspect(s) then fled the scene.

“What prompted the altercation and whether the incident is gang-related remains under investigation,” officials said in a release.

At this time, no suspect information is available. No weapons were located at the scene.

Detectives are searching for any video of the incident and ask anyone with information to contact Homicide Detectives Oscar Valenzuela and Shea Robertson at (562) 570-7244. Anonymous tips may be submitted through “LA Crime Stoppers” by calling 1 (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
