Six people were arrested for DUIs during a checkpoint conducted by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) over the weekend in the area of Seventh Street, west of Junipero Ave.

During the checkpoint, which lasted on Saturday from 7:00PM to 3:00AM, 1,508 vehicles passed through with 535 drivers being screened, the LBPD said in a statement.

The checkpoint resulted in the following results:

    • Six drivers were arrested for DUI
    • Seven Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted
    • One driver was cited for driving on a suspended license
    • Five drivers were cited for unlicensed driving
    • Six drivers were cited for unsafe driving
    • One vehicle was impounded

Funding for the checkpoint program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Safety Administration.
