A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed near Downtown Long Beach just after midnight Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

Police said the attack happened around 12:10 a.m. on Alamitos Avenue near First Street. Officers found the victim in a residence there with stab wounds to his upper torso, but they didn’t appear to be life-threatening, Sgt. Vincent Otto said.

The attacker was gone before police arrived, but he or she and the victim know each other, according to Otto.

Police would not answer any further questions about the attack. It is still under investigation and waiting to be assigned to a detective, Otto said.
